What’s in a Name?

I spent months thinking and praying about a name for my soul care business. I wanted it to convey invitation, quietness, beauty and peace and rest. One morning I woke up with the name on my mind: Still Waters Soul Care. I had considered many others, but this one spoke to me. It came from the familiar Psalm 23: “The Lord I my shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me beside the still waters.” The journey of soul care requires a shepherd. The Spirit of the Lord is the guide. The spiritual director is only a channel.

Through an attorney, I established and registered as an LLC. I was so excited; it was like having a baby. Then I went into another season of thinking and praying about a logo. I tried to create one myself. I really wanted it to speak. Again, I wanted it to convey invitation, quietness, beauty and peace and rest. When my web designer sought a domain name, she discovered that there was already a Still Waters Soul Care website. I was crushed. I was already established and registered with the name. However, this twist in the road gave me the idea for the logo. I would go with StillWaterSoulCare. My graphic artist was pleased and others liked it as well.

I felt I had finally found one that gave the feel of what I was seeking. The font was simple and uncluttered. The colors were of the earth and sky suggesting a place. Their color tones were calm and inviting. The central “S” connected the peaceful place and the care of the soul. The “S” at the center also spoke of the Spirit. My name also begins with an “S.” That was noticeable, but less important to me.

So, I wanted you to take note that my domain name and my email are stillwatersoulcare.com and stillwatersoulcare@gmail.com. You are invited to read and consider whether you would like to start or continue your own journey into soul care. If you would like to know more, you now know where to find me.
